Hi My name is Kate Freethy and I couldn’t be any more excited to be a part of team Horse & Hound. I own one horse, Herbie and one pony named I'm Your Girl (pictured). I am currently eventing both of them. I am in grade 11 at Aurora High School. Before I started riding I competed in synchronized swimming up to the provincial level and I also did many other sports throughout the years including speed swimming, diving, rugby, downhill skiing and soccer. I eventually realized that riding was my thing and stuck to it. Before I started eventing, I did the pony jumpers on my pony Angel aka I'm Your Girl. We did one full season and qualified for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and placed respectably. In May of 2017 I bought my current horse Herbie. We started at Pre-Entry and are now looking to upgrade to Pre-Training this season. I also event Angel at the entry level. In the future, I hope to qualify and compete at the NAJYRC with my horse Herbie, and bring Angel up to her fullest potential so someday she can teach another kid the ropes. I am looking forward to the season ahead and cannot wait to have the Horse & Hound Team behind me!

Horse(s): Baby & Gibson
I am 15 years old and have been riding for over 10 years. KT Performance Horses is my home barn where my mare Baby and my partner in crime Gibson live. I love grooming them and experimenting with new products. I ride English and Western, and show OPHC with Gibson. Gibson and I were 2017 Youth 14-18 Reserve Champion.
My goals this year, while recovering from a back injury, are to get strong and to have fun! Anything I am able to do is a gift and I am so happy to be back in the saddle again!
Rider: Michela Ellis
My name is Michela Ellis, and I own and ride Aurora! Aurora is a 12-year-old arab-percheron cross that my family and I rescued from the OSPCA when she was just two months old. I am now riding at BelleVue Stables in Lafontaine Ontario and loving every second of it. While home from school during the summer I work, try to spend as much time as possible at the barn, and I enjoy doing photography at horse shows. Catch me around OHTA shows with my coach, and as many schooling shows as I can get to! I am going into the fourth year of university at Wilfrid Laurier in Waterloo for my Bachelors in biology and hope to complete a Masters program in physiotherapy following my undergraduate degree. This year I plan on joining the recreational equestrian team at my school and spending lots of time with different horses!
I have been riding since I was old enough to sit on a horse. My nana was very influential in bringing OCTRA (Ontario Competitive Trail Riding Association) to the Georgian Bay area, and this allowed me to grow up in a very equine friendly household. I got Aurora when I was 9 after learning to ride on my AQHA mare Holly. Aurora and I were both very young, and took our time growing as a team. Under the guidance of my current coach, Mélanie Marion, I plan to work on both mine and Aurora’s fitness and ability. First and foremost, I want to create a strong partnership with my horses but working together CORRECTLY takes a lot of work! Outside of structured lessons we love going on adventures and taking part in clinics. I hope to make it out to a few schooling shows to make our official dressage debut! We are so excited to be a part of the Horse and Hound family and look forward to working together!

Horse(s): Lade Mediva (Estelle)

My name is Sophie Scheiwiller. My equine partner is a 2010 beautiful, quirky, Selle Francais jumper mare named Estelle (show name Lady Mediva). I have been riding since I was 4-5. My childhood dream has been to compete at the Royal Winter Fair. I started competing after I had my kids about 9 years ago. It's been an intense journey with a lot of ups and downs but I have learned a lot in the process. Horses have so much to teach us if we are open to listening. My goal right now is to build confidence and connection in my mare and to have a successful show season. It's been a bit of a challenge but she and I have come so far together so I m determined to push through it. The Royal might seem far away sometimes but I know one day when we get there I can look back and be grateful for the incredible journey it took to get there and that your never too old to live out your dreams!!!!

Rider: Cadence Maisonneuve
Horse(s): Junebug & Limerick
My name is Cadence Maisonneuve. I attend a bilingual school. I have a little brother and a new sibling on the way this Fall. When I grow up I would like to become a large animal veterinarian. I have hopes to attend either the University of Guelph or the University of Prince Edward Island.
The horses I ride are, Junebug And Limerick. I’ve been riding Junebug for 3 years and I just recently started riding Limerick. Every year I do several schooling shows and this year I am hoping to attend a few off property (unsanctioned) shows this summer. I really hope over the years to do more shows and keep moving up in the riding levels. Eventually my dream is to buy a horse of my own. I am very motivated and I’ve been saving money to put towards school and to buy my own horse.
